On June 8, Media Coalition members the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, Association for American Publishers, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and Freedom to Read Foundation joined the American Civil Liberties Union of Utah, the Independent Book Publishers Association, painter Nathan Florence, and the Sexual Health Network in filing a motion for summary judgment in Florence v. Shurtleff, a challenge to Utah's Internet censorship law. The law seeks to regulate speech deemed "harmful to minors" on the general Internet through various means. Media Coalition members and their allies succeeded in having the law preliminarily enjoined upon passage and are now seeking to permanently enjoin the law. For a more detailed description of the law and a history of the case, see Media Coalition's Florence v. Shurtleff web page.
