Playboy v. Deters
No. C-1-95-211 (S.D. Ohio May 2, 1996)

On May 2, 1996, U.S. District Court Judge Herman Weber of the Southern District of Ohio ruled that a local prosecutor should not have written a letter telling Barnes and Noble to move material that he considered harmful to minors under the Ohio display statute in the Media Coalition case Playboy v. Deters.  The judge found that the letter did not indicate why the listed materials were harmful to juveniles.  He declared the letter null and void and ordered it to be withdrawn.
